DALE REICHENEDER
I first began living in the Calabasas area in 1987 and quickly fell in love with the vast open spaces and smaller community feel. Although there were periods of time that either school or work caused me to leave Calabasas, I was always drawn back. Sadly, with each return I saw a noticeable increase in development, increase in traffic, loss of open space and erosion of that smaller community feel that always drew me back.
As the Vice-President of the Steeplechase HOA, I volunteered to attend a City Council meeting to discuss our concerns about a proposed development next to Steeplechase. Rather than a receptive ear, the Council and their Staff showed little concern about the impact the project would have on the Steeplechase community and approved the 60-Unit development. Since then I’ve attended or listened to every Council meeting and discovered the Council’s disposition towards residents is consistently adversarial, but extremely favorable to developers.... THIS MUST STOP.
I promise to be receptive to the concerns of residents and stop this ever increasing trend of rubber stamping commercial and large scale residential development in our City that increasingly strains our City’s services, causes unacceptable increases in traffic, overcrowding in schools and the loss of open space forever.... let’s save our special city.
As a practicing lawyer in the areas of homeowner association law, real estate, construction defect, land use and easement disputes, I’m ready and willing to be an active voice for Calabasas residents against the current Council’s penchant for unchecked development
